The Datsun A15 engine is a fairly straightforward swap. There are just a few tricky areas. Its overall length is a little longer than an original BMC A Series engine.
Many threads related to this conversion on this and other forums. I am in the process of putting a Datsun A15/5 speed into my MKIII Midget and I.
Description:It took him over a year to get the thing really worked out and he has basically nothing else to do. The electric cooling fan is controlled by a thermostat. They would be a great revvy match for such a small light car. For any successful swap, you need a trans that will fit in theat tunnel or you need to be willing to do skilled, major surgery to a super-important area of the chassis. My best friend here in KC has just that package and it's really a nice car. Right now I'm in the military overseas but am returning to USA soon, so my project should be getting underway soon.
