The safety of antibiotics is becoming a worldwide concern. The studies concerning the effect of amoxicillin on the genetic material are rare. Li et al. [9] reported.
Description:This antibiotic is often used as an acne medication but can also be used to treat pneumonia, respiratory tract infections, and skin, genital or urinary infections. Mainly used to help bowel inflammation, diarrhea, rectal bleeding and abdominal pain in those with ulcerative colitis, this antibiotic is considered to be an anti-inflammatory drug and therefore is also used to help people with rheumatoid arthritis. Spermatozoa were obtained by swim-up from normozoospermic semen and cultured for 24 h with increasing concentrations of co-trimoxazole, erythromycin, amoxycillin, tetracycline and chloroquine. Viability was significantly reduced at concentrations of all drugs which affect rapid sperm movement; these concentrations of drugs did not appear to affect the ability of spermatozoa to undergo the acrosome reaction.
